Refund Policy

How refunds and cancellations work for gifts, event bookings and bookstore orders paid through a church's site on We Love Church.

Last updated: 20 October 2026

1. Who this policy is from

We Love Church is a website platform for churches, at welove.church. It is owned and operated by Esite Online Services CC, registration number 2006/078051/23, a close corporation registered in South Africa (“We Love Church”, “we”, “us”).

Contact us at support@welove.church.

2. What this policy covers

Churches use We Love Church to run their own websites. Through a church’s site you can make three kinds of payment, all in South African rand (ZAR) and all processed by Paystack:

  • Gifts — tithes, offerings and donations to a fund of the church.
  • Event bookings — registration fees and tickets for a church’s events.
  • Bookstore orders — books and other goods, and digital downloads.

This policy applies to all three, on every church site on the platform. Where a church publishes different terms for a particular event or product, those terms are shown to you before you pay and apply to that payment, as long as they give you no less than the law does.

3. How to ask for a refund

Email support@welove.church or contact the church using the details on its site. Either way the request reaches the right people. Please include:

  • the name of the church and what you paid for;
  • the email address you used when paying;
  • the date and amount of the payment, and the payment reference from your receipt if you have it;
  • the reason for the request.

We acknowledge a request within 2 business days and give you a decision within 7 business days. There is no fee for asking for, or receiving, a refund.

4. Gifts

A gift is a voluntary donation, not a purchase, so nothing is supplied in return and a gift is not normally refundable. We will refund a gift where it was made by mistake or without authority:

  • the wrong amount was entered, for example an extra zero;
  • the same gift was charged more than once;
  • the payment was made without the cardholder's permission.

Please tell us within 30 days of the payment. If a Section 18A tax certificate was issued for the gift, it is cancelled when the gift is refunded and a cancellation certificate is issued in its place. A cancelled certificate may not be used to claim a tax deduction.

5. Event bookings

  • If the church cancels the event, you receive a full refund of what you paid.
  • If the church changes the date or venue and you can no longer attend, you receive a full refund if you ask before the new date.
  • If you cancel 7 days or more before the event starts, you receive a full refund.
  • If you cancel less than 7 days before the event starts, a refund is at the church’s discretion, because catering, venues and materials have usually been paid for by then. A reasonable cancellation charge may be kept; the rest is refunded.
  • If you booked for several people, you may cancel some of the places and be refunded for those on the same basis.

A booking for a free event can be cancelled at any time, and there is nothing to refund.

6. Bookstore orders: books and other goods

  • Before your order is sent or collected, you may cancel it for a full refund.
  • Changed your mind? You may return goods within 7 days of receiving them for a full refund, provided they are unused and in the condition in which you received them. You pay the cost of returning them.
  • Damaged, defective or not what you ordered? Tell us within 6 months of receiving the goods and you may choose a repair, a replacement or a full refund. The cost of returning them is not yours.
  • Not delivered? If an order has not arrived within 30 days of payment, or by any later date agreed with you, you may cancel it for a full refund.

Delivery options and their cost — collection at a congregation, or courier to your address — are shown at checkout before you pay. To arrange a return, contact us first so that we can tell you where to send the goods.

7. Bookstore orders: digital downloads

A digital product is delivered immediately, as a download link on your order page. Because it cannot be returned, a download is not refundable once the link has been made available to you, except where:

  • the file is faulty or incomplete, or is not the product described, and we cannot put that right within a reasonable time;
  • you were charged more than once for the same product.

8. Payments that went wrong

If money left your account but you did not receive a confirmation, or you were charged twice, email support@welove.church with the details. A payment that did not complete is reversed in full, and a duplicate charge is always refunded.

If you do not recognise a payment, please contact us before disputing it with your bank. We can usually tell you what it was for, and refund it if it should not have been taken, faster than a dispute can.

9. How refunds are paid

  • A refund is paid through Paystack to the card or account used for the original payment. Refunds are not paid in cash or to a different account.
  • A refund is made in rand, for the amount approved, with no processing fee deducted.
  • Once approved, a refund is sent within 3 business days. Your bank may take up to a further 10 business days to show it on your statement.
  • We confirm the refund to you by email.

10. Churches using the platform

Fees a church pays Esite Online Services CC for the platform itself are governed by section 8 of our Terms and Conditions, or by the written agreement between us and that church where there is one, not by this policy. In short: the first month is a free trial, the R1 card check is refunded straight away, and a month already paid for is not refunded when a church stops.

11. Your rights under the law

Nothing in this policy limits a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002. Where the law gives you more than this policy does, the law applies.
